The Godhead

We find the “Godhead” mentioned in Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20, and Colossians 2:9. Colossians 2:9 states it all so well... “For in Him [Christ] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” Literally, the Godhead came to this earth incarnate in the man Christ Jesus. Jesus was 100% man, and 100% God. Jesus did not give up His deity when He came to the earth. According to Hebrews 5:8, Jesus humbled Himself to the Father in Heaven, even being obedient unto death (the crucifixion).

We read in Genesis 1:26, “And God said, let us make man in our image, after our likeness...” “Us” and “Our” are plural in the Hebrew. Clearly, God has manifest (or revealed) Himself to mankind as a Godhead, i.e., one God (Deuteronomy 6:4), yet three distinct individual Persons. It may not make good math; but it definitely makes good Bible. I didn't author the Bible, God did. Either you believe that the Bible is God's Word, or you don't.

We plainly read in Matthew 28:19-20, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” Here we see all three individual members of the Godhead. Again, in Luke 3:22 we see all three individual members of the Godhead, “And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.”

The Godhead is Comprised of Three Distinct, Individual, Persons

John 1:1-2, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.” How can the Word (Jesus - John 1:14) be WITH God and also BE God? The answer is THE GODHEAD!!! Jesus is a member of the Godhead, yet individually exists as God the Son. 1st John 5:7, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” Amen!

The Bible teaches that there is “ONE GOD” (Deuteronomy 6:4), Who exists as a Godhead, comprised of three individual, distinct, persons (Romans 1:20; Acts 17:29 and Colossians 2:9 - King James Bible only).

Again, carefully notice the clear distinction between God the Father and God the Son. John 5:30-32, “I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.” These are two distinct individuals.

In the following passage of Scripture, we see all three distinct, individual, members of the Godhead. John 14:12-16, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.  And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever.” Repeatedly in the Holy Bible we see the individual members of the Godhead presented. These are three individual members of the Godhead, which is God.

John 16:12-16, “I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. All things that the Father hath are mine: therefore, said I, that he shall take of mine, and shall shew it unto you. A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.”

John 16:32, “Behold, the hour cometh, yea, is now come, that ye shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.” As you can plainly see from the Word of God, there is a mountain of evidence that God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are three individual personalities, and not merely different hats that God wears.

The one God of the Bible exists as three individual persons, all unique and separate in function and personality. The Bible even calls the doctrine of the Godhead a mystery. Colossians 2:2, “That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ.” Thankfully, we don't have to understand the doctrine of the Godhead to be saved, but we WILL believe it if we are saved.

God the Father Loved God the Son Before the Foundation of the World

John 17:24, “Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.” In this amazing passage of Scripture, we learn that God the Father loved God the Son before the foundation of the world. Clearly, they were not the same person.

The inspired Word of God (King James Bible) plainly teaches that Jesus is the only begotten Son of God (John 3:16), who raised up in a glorified physical body (John 20:15-17), appeared to several hundred people in His resurrected body (1st Corinthians 15:6), ascended into Heaven in a physical body (Acts 1:9), and will one day return in that same physical body (Acts 1:11; Revelation 1:7).

Jesus' Bodily Resurrection Teaches Immortality for the Whole Man in Both Body and Soul!!!

THE UNITY OF GOD (There's 1 eternally existing God in 3 persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit)

John 17:24 is biblical proof of the Trinity. In order for Jesus to be the OBJECT of God the Father's great love, then He had to be completely separate from the Father in His person. Likewise, God the Father loves the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit loves the Son, and the Son loves God the Father, and the Holy Spirit loves the Father, and the Son loves the Holy Spirit. In order for love to exist at all, there MUST be an object of that love!!! This is proof of the Godhead, i.e., Trinity.

The Godhead is Always Masculine in Gender, Never Feminine

Also, please understand that the Biblical Godhead is 100% totally masculine. There is NO feminine aspect of the Godhead as feminist theology, New Agers, witches, occultists and spiritists teach. Satan has been relentlessly attacking the Bible in these Last Days, producing the NIV 2011 which removes the pronoun “he” concerning the Holy Spirit in John 14:26.

Also, we see the individuality of the Holy Spirit in Luke 12:10, “And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.” Acts 5:32, “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” Notice the word “Whom,” not “it.” The Holy Spirit is a Person. In John 16:13 we read, “Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.” Six times in John 16:13, the Holy Spirit is referred to as the masculine pronoun “He.”

The Godhead is a mystery. We read of “the mystery of God” in Colossians 2:2. You either believe the Bible is the Word of God, or you don't. By the way, many modern corrupted Bibles have entirely removed the word “Godhead,” such as in the New International Version (NIV). This is a direct attack on Christ's deity. Also, wherever the King James Bible says that someone “worshipped” Jesus, the NIV changes it to “knelt” instead. How deceitful.

Colossians 2:2 refers to the Godhead as “the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ.” Isn't that a beautiful Scripture? I really want you to learn this Bible Verse, because it is the heart of the matter. The Godhead is a mystery. It's ok not to understand everything. Most people can't explain how a brown cow can eat green grass and produce white milk, but that yellow butter on your biscuits sure tastes good!

Thankfully we don't have to understand God to be saved, we just need to believe (trust) upon His only begotten Son Who died, was buried and rose again three days later for our sins (1st Corinthians 15:1-4; John 20:31; Acts 10:43).

Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the Godhead... “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” Colossians 2:9 so beautifully states... “For in Him [Jesus] dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.” If you want to come to the God of the Bible, then you MUST come only through Jesus Christ, Who is the beloved Son of God.

The GODHEAD is revealed (or manifest) in the Person, life and earthly ministry of the precious Lord Jesus Christ. “Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also” (1st John 2:22,23).

The Bible, God's Holy Word, Proclaims the GODHEAD

This is the doctrine of the Trinity. Critics of the Bible like to point out that the word “Trinity” is not in the Bible. Albeit, the word “Godhead” is in the Bible, i.e., if you have a trustworthy King James Bible. The word Godhead is found in 3 places (Acts 17:29; Romans 1:20 and Colossians 2:9).

Deceitfully, the New International Version [NIV] and all modern corrupt versions of the Bible totally remove the word GODHEAD. This is blatant corruption of the Scriptures.

Deuteronomy 6:4 proclaims that there is one God. Yet the Bible manifests God in 3 Persons of God the Father, God the Son and God the Spirit. Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

The teaching of the Godhead is a fundamental doctrine of the Christian faith.

Acts 17:29, “Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.”

Romans 1:20, “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse.”

Colossians 2:9, “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

Beware of any false minister or false religion that denies the Godhead.

Biblical Evidence for The Godhead

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and THESE THREE ARE ONE.” —1st John 5:7

The Bible, God’s Word, proclaims that there is ONE God (Deuteronomy 6:4), Who has revealed Himself to mankind in three distinct Persons; namely, God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Although the term “Trinity” is not found in the Scriptures, the word “Godhead” most certainly is — in 3 places!

Romans 1:19, 20 states…

“Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse.”

The LORD our God is ONE Lord (Deuteronomy 6:4); but He does exist in three Persons, i.e., a Trinity.

Acts 17:29 states…

“Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the GODHEAD is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.”

Colossians 2:9…

“For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the GODHEAD bodily.”

1st John 5:7 is in the Original Greek. If there were no other verse of the King James Bible testifying of the Godhead, 1st John 5:7 would be enough for any Bible-believer to know that God exists in three Persons — the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit…

“For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and THESE THREE ARE ONE.” —1st John 5:7

How Can One God Exist in Three Persons?

Some people feel like they have to provide an answer for every question. Well, that’s not true. Doctors are still perplexed as to what causes the human body to sneeze; but it’s an obvious fact. Mankind’s brightest secular scientists cannot with any certainty tell us how life began, nor can they tell us how big the universe is, nor can they create even the simplest of life forms in a laboratory. It makes infinite more sense to accept the Bible’s claim that God spoke the universe into existence by the Word of His mouth (2nd Peter 3:5). Ironically, the same people who refuse to believe the Bible without proof; readily believe the bogus tales of unsaved scientists, even without as much as a single shred of credible evidence to support their claims. This clearly evidences the wickedness of man’s heart against his divine Creator.

Colossians 2:2, 9 acknowledges the Godhead as a “mystery” …

“…to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ… For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

Colossians 2:9 plainly teaches that the Godhead became incarnate in the fleshly body of the Lord Jesus Christ. 1st Timothy 3:16 declare the same truth…

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh…”

Too many people refuse to accept God at His Word and continually put God on trial in their mind. Can anyone really explain how ONE individual can exist in three Persons? I don’t see how. Some Bible-teachers like to use the fact that humans are composed of body, soul and spirit; but we are still one person; not three. This is not a good example of the Godhead. I can’t give you a good example, and won’t try. God is God and we don’t have to figure out how to describe Him to an unsaved world of Christ-rejecters. To those who believe, no explanation is necessary; to those who believe not, no explanation is possible. Let us just accept God as the Bible portrays Him.

The Scriptures identify each Person of the Godhead as “God.” The word "Godhead" is a Bible word (Acts 17:29, Romans 1:20, Colossians 2:9).

The Father is called God.

Romans 15:6, “That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Jesus is called God.

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” 1st Timothy 3:16

Hebrews 1:8, “But unto the Son he [God] saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.”

Colossians 2:9, “For in him [Jesus] dwelleth ALL the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”

The Holy Ghost is called God.

Acts 5:3-4, “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? ...thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”

1st Timothy 3:16, “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: GOD WAS manifest in the flesh, JUSTIFIED IN THE SPIRIT, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”

The Godhead and Our Salvation

God the Father sent His only begotten Son (John 3:16).

John 5:36, “But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.”

The Son was sent to be the propitiation (to appease the wrath of God) for our sins.

1st John 4:10, “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.”

The Holy Spirit reproves us, teaches us, guides us and testifies of Jesus Christ.

John 14:26, “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.”

John 15:26, “But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.”

More Scriptures Testifying of the Godhead

“Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.” —Matthew 28:19,20

“And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him [Jesus], and a voice came from heaven [God the Father], which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.” —Luke 3:22

Each Person of the Godhead SPEAKS AUDIBLY in the Bible.

God the Father SAID of Jesus in Matthew 3:17... "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

Jesus SAID in John 10:30, "I and my Father are one."

The Holy Ghost SAID in Acts 13:2... "Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them."

Each Person of the Godhead was Operative in the Old Testament.

The Father — Isaiah 64:8, “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.”

Jesus — 1st Corinthians 10:1-4, 9, “Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea; And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And did all eat the same spiritual meat; And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: AND THAT ROCK WAS CHRIST. Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.”

The Holy Ghost — Hebrews 3:7-11, “Wherefore (as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness: When your fathers tempted me, proved ME, and saw MY WORKS forty years. Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in their heart; and they have not known my ways. So I sware in my wrath, they shall not enter into my rest.)”

From the very first chapter in the Bible, God makes it known that He consists of more than one Person--

Genesis 1:26-27, “And God said, LET US make man in OUR image, after OUR likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God [not angels. the "us" can only refer to God.] created he him.”

Genesis 3:22, “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil...”

When Isaiah had a vision of the Lord sitting upon a throne, the Lord asked him a question…

Isaiah 6:8, “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for US? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

In the Old Testament, we find that God has a Son (Proverbs 30:4, Psalm 2:7-12) and a Spirit (Isaiah 40:13, 2nd Samuel 23:2, Judges 3:10, et cetera). We also find that the LORD [Jesus] said that the LORD [God the Father] would send Him to the earth (Zechariah 2:10,11).
